How can we be so lonely?

Q. With so many people on the planet, how can we be so lonely?
- Gene Myers
A. It’s physics. Mostly everything is empty space. On an atomic level nothing touches anything, not even itself. Metaphorically this breaks our hearts. We want connection so badly and we even feel it- but it is so elusive and life shows us time and time again that things are not what they appear to be. This life is lonely because each atom is alone and the bigger picture is a reflection of the smaller picture.
